The Northern Ontario Youth Internship Program (NOYIP) is a FedNor-funded program delivered through the CFDCs. It connects private-sector businesses with qualified post-secondary graduates — helping young professionals launch their careers while giving employers access to motivated, educated new hires.

The program is designed as a win for both sides: businesses get skilled support for projects in high-priority sectors, and graduates get the hands-on professional experience they need to build a career right here in Northern Ontario.

Private Sector

Wage Subsidy for Hiring Post-Secondary Graduates

NOYIP provides financial support to help private-sector employers hire qualified young professionals for roles aligned with the program's priority sectors.

50% of wage costs covered, up to a maximum of $35,000
Candidate must be under 30 years of age
Candidate must have graduated from college or university within the past three years
Job description must align with eligible program areas: innovation, information and communications technology (ICT), and trade

What sectors are eligible for NOYIP positions?

The program targets roles aligned with the Federal Economic Strategy Tables, including innovation, information and communications technology (ICT), and trade. If you're unsure whether your role qualifies, CDC staff can help assess it.

How much of the wage is covered?

The program covers 50% of eligible wage costs, up to a maximum of $35,000 per position.

Does the graduate have to be from the Sault area?

The key requirements are that the candidate is under 30, has graduated from a college or university within the past three years, and will be working in Northern Onatrio. Contact the CDC to confirm eligibility for your specific situation.
